I would like to dedicate the song "Where Will You Be When Jesus Comes" to the memory of a very special woman. Rayjean Gerkin was my friend. She went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 28, 2012. She gave her heart and soul to the Lord several months ago and Rick and I had the privilage to be able to be there for that very special time. What shouting and rejoicing was heard in the First Church of God in Bedford, IN on that morning when Rayjean came up out of that water, a new creation in Christ. But I'm sure it couldn't begin to compare at the rejoicing of the angels when she enter the gates of Heaven. She left her mark in this world before she left it, becoming a voice for the prevention of Melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer. She fought with a vengence to make everyone she met know the risks of tanning and the lack of using sun screen. She left footprints on all our hearts that will remain there until we meet her again. Oh, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her and the lives of her husband, Danny, and sons, Toby and Taylor, as well as the rest of her family, will never be the same. I would ask all of my friends to please keep them in your prayers, that God will keep them wrapped tightly in His comforting arms. Rayjean was probably the first person to receive a copy of the above mentions song when I received the demo. She was so excited about it and so encouraging to me in my songwriting gift. She told me that the cd stayed in her vehicle and she listened to it everytime she got in the car. She told me that her son even commented one morning to her that she must really like that song. She admitted that she did. But more importantly she was hearing that question over and over again. A question we all need to answer. As songwriters and singers, God gives us seeds to plant and cultivate and then water. Each one of us has a special job in the winning of souls. Please don't think for a minute that I take credit for Rayjean's decision to accept Christ. I just know that it takes many to grow a garden of believers. She told me of the talks she had with her pastor and that was so important to her. There were so many others that encouraged her. So continue to drop those seeds, pull at those weeds and sprinkle a little water (love & encouragement) along the way, that others may see Jesus in you and want what you have. God bless you all in your journey. And Rayjean, I'll see you later, when my name is called up yonder.
Sunday messages by Bro. Lindy Hopkins today were awesome. We need what God brings to us each day. Never, ever go to Walmart on Sunday but today we stopped by for cook-out supplies for tomorrows family get together and I ran into an old friend who I hadn't seen in probably 10yrs. Betty East, such a sweet person was one of my closest friends going up on Dive Rd. It was a God thing that I was there. Thank You Lord for little blessings. Relaxing tonight with my wonderful husband. Subway for supper! Enjoyed reading my Singing News as always. Pray you are all well. God Bless.
I am still trying to figure all the blog stuff out. So if you happen to read this little test and would be so kind as to post to this page I would so appreciate it. Just a word or two will do. Memorial day weekend, a time to remember those who have gone on before us. Thank You Lord for the military men & women who have given their lives so that we may freely worship You. I placed flowers on my twin brothers graves today and I will do our oldest daughter's grave tomorrow after church. Today was tough buying her flowers. I really miss her. But I will see again when the roll is called up yonder. Makes me anxious. Have a safe and wonderful weekend. God Bless and Keep you.
